Les Courants de la Liberté June 2nd and 3rd 2023.

 Les courants de la Liberté

On June 2nd a small group of runners representing the city of Portsmouth in our twin city of Caen left Portsmouth International Port on the 8:15 ferry to Ouistreham (Port of Caen).

With enormous and generous help from Brittany Ferries we had our return crossing to and from Caen covered.

Arriving at 15:00 in Ouistreham, we were warmly welcomed by a group of the local twinning association in Caen, some of whom would host our runners.

The hosts were very thoughtful and took good care of our runners. all those who stayed with hosts were very happy with the welcome they were given.

At 17:00 we were given tour of Caen's wonderful Hôtel de Ville and had a pasta party organised by Caen City Council in the Hôtel de Ville.

The Sunday saw the races with everyone dropped off at the start of their race and we met them at the finish where the use of showers in a sports centre were organised.

We had lunch at the cafeteria at the Mémorial Museum. I took our runners and their hosts present up to Place de Portsmouth and we went off to Ouistreham where we had dinner at la Moulerie in Ouistreham, before returning to the ferry terminal to return to Portsmouth.
